Definition :
It is an infectious disease caused by a virus. This disease spreads by the bite of a mosquito . It is more common in warm, wet areas of the world. Outbreaks occur in the rainy season.
Symptoms
High fever
Headache
Joint and muscle pain
Vomiting
Rash
Sometimes it turns into dengue hemorrhagic fever (causes bleeding from the nose, gums or under the skin )
Sometimes it may turn into dengue shock syndrome (causes heavy bleeding and shock )
Recovery :
Most cases of dengue recover within 2 weeks. Drinking lots of water/fluids, resting and taking fever-reducing medications(except aspirin) might help.
To lower the risk(especially in dengue-prone countries ) :
Wear insect repellent
Wear clothes that cover your arms, legs and feet
Close unscreened doors and windows .
